ML-Class: The trailblazing vehicle with the civility of a saloon
Body with dynamic design High-quality interior, stylish centre console and wood trim Automatic climate control with rear compartment ventilation function Windowbags and adaptive airbags as standard for driver and passenger June 9, 2004, Beijing The Mercedes-Benz M-Class appears at the Auto China 2004 featuring dynamic body design, ground-breaking technology and an extensive, luxurious standard equipment package. The all-wheel drive vehicle's dynamically powerful character is re-inforced by its innovative design features including headlamps - sporting a sophisticated clear glass look - and the aerodynamically formed exterior mirror casings with integrated indicators add extra elegance. The standard equipment such as 17-inch light-alloy wheels and wide-base all-season tyres - 255/60 R 17 (five and six-cylinder models) or 275/55 R 17 (eight-cylinder models) - also underline the dynamism of the car's design as viewed from the side. Interior: high-grade fine wood trim and stylish centre console Inside the M-Class, one is immediately drawn to the extremely high-quality centre console and Mercedes-Benz has introduced a fine wood trim as standard for all model variants. Further notable aspects of the centre console include additional stowage compartments between the front seats and, for the rear passengers, a stylish double cup holder, an illuminated ashtray, a 12-volt power socket and individually adjustable ventilation outlets. Automatic climate control with additional blower for rear passenger compartment Automatic climate control comes as standard in the M-Class and the system incorporates state-of-the-art technology, courtesy of the engineers at Mercedes. Elegant controls with integrated buttons for automatic mode, recirculated air mode and other functions make the high-performance system easier to use. What's more, an additional blower will also ensure that rear passengers enjoy a perfect climate. Safety: windowbags fitted as standard Standard-fit windowbags, which inflate like a curtain across the inside of the side windows in the event of a lateral collision, give the occupants of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class even better protection than before. These windowbags, which measure 200 centimetres in length and are 500 millimetres high, complement the protection offered by the sidebags in the doors. Active safety is also enhanced by the bi-xenon headlamps. Thanks to the gas discharge system, these headlamps generate a luminous flux that is twice as powerful as that produced by conventional halogen lamps, ensuring even better illumination of the road ahead, whether they are switched to dipped beam or main beam. s is the case with all state-of-the-art Mercedes passenger cars, the M-Class has a windscreen-mounted light sensor to automatically activate the exterior lighting when it gets dark outside. This "Headlamp Assist" comes as standard in the all-wheel-drive vehicle. At the same time, the PARKTRONIC parking aid will be available as an option in the M-Class. A range of mobiles and fixed-installation car phones allow Mercedes customers to read and write SMS (short message service) texts on the screen of the COMAND control and display system (optional).
