Improve children's road safety consciousness ¡®Mercedes-Benz Road Safety Brushwork Game for Children' was co-hosted in Beijing by Mercedes-Benz China Limited and China Traffic and Road Safety Association. This is a key content of the ¡®National Road Safety Education Program'. Over a thousand brushworks were received, with the encouragement from the organizers, many disabled children took part in the game. The activity was hosted successfully and gained lots of positive feedbacks from the public. From 1998, Mercedes-Benz established a commonwealth activity-¡®Mobile Kids'. The activity aims to improving the road safety consciousness of children aged between 8 to12, has been hosted in various countries. Educational sponsorship ¡®Children are the future of a country'. In 1997, Mercedes-Benz and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) sponsored the new class room construction works for Wo-Long-Shan Primary School located in the remote country of Southwest Beijing . To ensure the students are able to finish their study, Mercedes-Benz also sponsored children with full amount tuition fees and scholarships. Introduce ATP Tennis tournament to China ATP Master Cup Final 2002 was held in new Shanghai International Exhibition Center last November. This is the most prestigious tennis tournament ever held in China to date. In September, the city of Beijing will be hosting the China Open Tournament 2004, which is another important ATP tournament in Asia , at least 70 top-level tennis players will attend. This tournament will be held in Beijing for a decade. By sponsoring this game in China , Mercedes-Benz, as a globally renowned brand, showed its great effort in promoting the worldwide development of sports. Globally oriented and under the guide of social responsibility, Mercedes-Benz is playing an important part in pushing forward the development of tennis throughout the world. Founder of Laurence Charity Sports Foundation and sponsorship of National games of disabled of China Being the founder and sponsor of Laurence Sports Charity Foundation, Mercedes-Benz is continually committed to the development of various sports activities globally. With the support of Mercedes-Benz, the internationally recognized Laurence Charity Sports Foundation established a China presence in January 28, 2002. The goal is to support the sports activities of disabled Chinese people. The first activity involved 12 cities and some 5,000 disabled. Currently, there are 13 million disabled people across China . A China based fund raising event was kicked off in a cooperative effort by famous American athletes and Chinese notables.
