Skoda Octavia RS 230 special edition announced

Skoda has introduced the Octavia RS 230 special edition which will premiere in less than two weeks at the Geneva Motor Show.

 

The newest member of the Octavia family brings a modest 10 HP (7 kW) increase over the standard Octavia RS TSI which means the 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine now develops 230 HP (169 kW). The added oomph allows the hot hatchback run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 6.7 seconds, representing an improvement of 0.1 while top speed has also increased a little bit from 248 km/h (154 mph) to 250 km/h (155 mph).

 

Aside from the modest power bump, the limited-run Octavia will also come as standard with an electronically controlled differential front axle lock which makes it the first Skoda ever to be equipped with such a system that promises to provide "dynamic cornering" for what will be the fastest production Octavia ever.

 

The Skoda Octavia RS 230 special edition will receive its public debut at the beginning of next month during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and will hit dealerships in June.
