Honda Civic Type R teased, will have a top speed of 167 mph

Honda has released new details about the Civic Type R, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

 

Starting with the exterior, the car will have an aggressive front bumper that has been specially designed to "inhibit air turbulence around the front wheels, cutting drag and enhancing high-speed stability." Honda also confirmed the model will have a front splitter, ventilated front fenders and aerodynamic side skirts. The car will have also a prominent rear wing and underbody panels that channel air into a sporty rear diffuser.

 

Honda was coy on specifications but confirmed the Civic Type R will have a Brembo front braking system with four-piston calipers and 350mm drilled discs. They will be hidden behind 19-inch alloy wheels that are unique to the model.

 

While Honda was tight-lipped about the output of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, they confirmed the Civic Type R will have a top speed of 270km/h (167 mph) which is "unrivalled amongst its front wheel-drive competitors."
