Production McLaren P1 GTR to debut in Geneva

McLaren has announced plans to introduce the production P1 GTR at the Geneva Motor Show.

 

Set to go into production later this year, the car will benefit from thousands of kilometers of extreme testing in Europe, Bahrain and Qatar. McLaren says "These tests have pushed the performance of the car to its limits and have been designed to further enhance [the] cooling and aerodynamics over the design concept previewed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the summer of 2014."

 

McLaren also said the production model will have significant weight-saving measures and a track-optimized petrol-electric powertrain with a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 700 PS (515 kW) per tonne. The company declined to go into specifics but the concept had a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine and an electric motor that produced a combined output of 1,000 PS (736 kW).
