Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS unveiled in Detroit

The dizzying array of Porsche 911 variants continues to grow as the automaker has unveiled the 911 Targa 4 GTS at the North American International Auto Show.

 

Designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 911 Targa, the model features a sportier front bumper, wider rear fenders and tinted bi-xenon headlights. The car also has aerodynamic mirrors, a sports exhaust system and gloss black 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

 

Interior changes are relatively limited but there's Alcantara upholstery and four-way adjustable Sport Plus seats.

 

Power is provided by a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 430 PS (316 kW) and 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0–60 mph in 4.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds) before hitting a top speed in excess of 186 mph (300 km/h).

 

Besides the upgraded engine, the car has a PASM chassis and the Sport Chrono package.

 

The Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS will go on sale in Germany in March and pricing starts at at €137,422 (including VAT).
