Smart fortwo edition flashlight cabrio introduced in Detroit, will be sold globally
Smart has introduced the fortwo edition flashlight cabrio at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, ahead of commencing global deliveries in April.
Likely one of the last special editions based on the outgoing model, the "flashlight" version can be had with either a deep black or an exclusive matte crystal white paint. Regardless of selected hue, all cars have a lava orange tridion safety cell and mirror housings, a black front grille and three-spoke black alloy wheels featuring lava orange hub covers. The special edition can also be visually distinguished by the H7 projection headlamps featuring a titanium-colored background along with the edition logo in the mirror triangle.
The Smart fortwo edition flashlight cabrio comes with black leather seats that have black fabric inserts on the backrests along with orange contrasting stitching. There's also a three-spoke sports steering wheel wrapped around in leather, unique "edition flashlight" floor mats and all the equipment that you normally get with the passion equipment line.
It can be had with a three-cylinder 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 71 HP (52 kW) priced from €17,580 or with the turbocharged 84 HP (62 kW) version beginning at €18,150. Smart is also offering the 55 kW electric model which kicks off at €22,992.
A recent report indicates the new generation Smart fortwo cabrio will be introduced later this year without the necessity of a support brace as a result of installing a stronger tridion safety cell.
