Hyundai i40 facelift revealed for Europe

Hyundai has taken the wraps off the facelifted i40 in wagon and sedan versions.

 

The flagship model in the European lineup of the company features a refined exterior styling with redesigned rear lamps, a more sophisticated hexagonal grille and a new front bumper with integrated LED fog lamps, as introduced in the Genesis. The manufacturer has also equipped the car with a set of new 16- and 18-inch alloy wheels.

 

The facelifted vehicle will be offered with a range of two Euro 6-compliant diesel engines. They both have a displacement of 1.7 liters with maximum output of 115 HP (85 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) and 141 HP (104 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft). The more powerful version will be available with a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that provides improved fuel efficiency and offers drivers "fully automatic operation or manual gear changes through paddles on the steering wheel".

 

Hyundai has also improved the handling of the i40 with the Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) system that uses electronic sensors to emulate the behaviour of a limited-slip differential during cornering, providing additional traction and better grip.

 

New active and passive safety technologies include the Smart High Beam (SHB) system, which monitors approaching traffic and automatically turns off the high beam and the Speed Limit Identification Function system that checks roadside signs and displays the current speed limit alert to the driver via a new TFT display on the instrument panel. There's also a new navigation technology with "enhanced touchscreen functionality".
