Lexus registers LC 500 and LC 500h names, likely for LF-LC production version
Lexus has trademarked the "LC 500" and "LC 500h" monikers which will likely be used for the already confirmed production version of the LF-LC concept.
Less than a month ago we heard Lexus Europe Vice President Alain Uyttenhoven saying the LF-LC concept will evolve into a production car which won't act as an LFA successor. Now, Toyota's premium marque has registered the "LC 500" and "LC 500h" nameplates and probably these will be used for the car in question which will be built in larger quantities compared to the LFA's 500-unit run.
Expect the Lexus LC 500 to use an uprated 5.0-liter V8 engine sourced from the RC F where it puts out 471 bhp (351 kW) and 530 Nm (390 lb-ft). As for the LC 500h, it will likely combine a 3.5-liter V6 with an electric motor which will grant a combined output of more than 500 bhp (373 kW).
Both the Lexus LC 500 and LC 500h will probably go on sale in the second half of 2017 and will likely be based on the next-gen LS due to arrive a year earlier.
