McLaren drops new teaser for Sports Series range

McLaren has released an additional teaser image for the Sports Series set to be introduced in 2015.

 

It should be mentioned right from the beginning that "Sports Series" isn't the car's actual name as it represents a lineup of lesser models which will be positioned below the 650S. The new family will consist of coupe, spider and more hardcore versions previously referred to as the "P13".

 

In this second teaser image we get the chance to observe the butterfly door showing quite a few similarities with the 650S and P1 which means the P13 won't be that much different compared to its two more powerful siblings from where it will inherit the carbon fiber composite chassis.

 

The 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine will be carried over but in a detuned configuration which will allow the coupe hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in approximately four seconds, thus making it a full second slower than the 650S Coupe while top speed is expected to go down from 207 mph (333 km/h) to around 185 mph (298 km/h).

 

Scheduled to go on sale in the second quarter of next year, the P13 (name not confirmed) is estimated to cost ￡125,000 ($195,600 / €157,800) for the coupe version.
