Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang unleashed with more than 500 bhp
Ford has fully revealed the Shelby GT350 Mustang.
The highlight of the new range-topping Mustang is a naturally aspirated V8 5.2-liter engine boasting a flat-plane crankshaft never seen before on a Ford V8 engine. Final specifications are not available but Ford says the engine will produce more than 500 bhp (373 kW) and a maximum torque above the 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) mark. Power will be channeled to the wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox while a Torsen limited slip differential is going to be standard equipment.
Ford will offer the Shelby GT350 Mustang with an optional Track Pack bringing extra goodies such as an engine oil cooler and a transmission oil cooler while the new aluminum hood is standard along with the bespoke 19-inch wheels wrapped around in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires customized specifically for this model to provide optimal track on the road and during track use.
Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes with 394mm front rotors matched with six-piston calipers along with 380mm rear rotors working with four-piston calipers. The model can also be visually distinguished by a more aggressive and aerodynamic body including a significantly low front splitter, carbon fiber composite grille as well as a rear diffuser increasing downforce.
Stepping inside the cabin, the Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang has received Recaro sport seats, unique gauges and less chrome and shiny surfaces as a method to reduce sun glare. There’s also an integrated driver control system offering five modes to select which alter settings such as stability control, ABS, steering effort, traction control, throttle mapping, exhaust and MagnaRide tuning.
At an additional cost, Ford is offering an optional Tech Pack bringing electric seats covered in leather, dual-zone climate control system, Shaker Audio and an eight-inch MyTouch Ford infotainment system.
