沃尔沃近日透露计划开发更小跨界车,该车很可能会被命名为XC40。沃尔沃总裁汉肯?塞缪尔森(Hakan Samuelsson)在接受采访时表示，小型SUV在沃尔沃开发名单中位列非常靠前的位置。这几乎就证实了沃尔沃正在开发入门级跨界车，该车虽然属于小型车，但仍具备高档车品质。该车很可能采用紧凑模块化架构CMA平台打造，将现款延续现款的动力配置，有望在2018年亮相。这位高管同时表示，沃尔沃目前没有扩充车型阵容的计划，车厂将依靠现有车型和小型跨界车实现到2020年年销量达到80万辆的目标，而目前的销量为45万辆。

 

Volvo announces smaller crossover planned, likely the XC40

Volvo has disclosed plans to develop a smaller crossover which will likely be commercialized with the "XC40" moniker, thus confirming a rumor from 2013.

 

In an interview with Autocar, Volvo chairman Hakan Samuelsson said "a small SUV is very high on our wish list", thus basically confirming an entry-level crossover is in the works and will likely end up being the XC40. The model promises to "provide customers with an SUV that is small in stature but remains premium in nature."

 

The forthcoming XC40 will likely ride on the CMA - Compact Modular Architecture which is being developed by Volvo in collaboration with parent company Geely. We should expect the compact crossover to come out within the next four years as Samuelsson said the second-gen XC90 will be the oldest model in the range by 2018.

 

He went on to specify there aren't any further model lineup expansion plans so Volvo will have to rely on its current models and the XC40 to boost sales from around 450,000 units to 800,000 cars per year by the end of the decade.
