Volkswagen Polo TSI BlueMotion introduced with 1.0-liter engine

Volkswagen has launched the TSI BlueMotion modification for its Polo compact model.

 

The producer explains that in this vehicle it is “offering its fuel-saving technology for the first time in conjunction with a petrol engine”. We are talking about a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged unit that generates 95 PS (70 kW) and 160 Nm (118 lb-ft). Average fuel consumption is rated at only 4.1 l/100 km (57 mpg) with CO2 emissions of 94 g/km, which is 0.2 liters less than the standard 1.0 TSI. Volkswagen says that the TSI BlueMotion version is still able to reach a maximum speed of 190 km/h (118 km/h).

 

To achieve this fuel consumption figure, the German brand has equipped the car with improved aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tires and longer gear ratios in the upper transmission stages. Other factors contributing to greater driving economy are the lowered ride height, the start-stop system, the regenerative braking and the gear-change indicator for the driver.

 

The Polo TSI BlueMotion has a starting price of 15,925 EUR (19,845 USD).
