Toyota is working on an entry-level sports car to slot below the GT 86

According to a recent report, Toyota is developing is an entry-level sports car that will slot below the GT 86.

 

The model will reportedly be a compact coupe that rides on an all-new rear-wheel drive platform. Nothing is official but Motoring says the car will weigh 980 kg (2160 lbs) and measure 3995mm long, 1695mm wide and 1320mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2480mm.

 

Power will reportedly be provided by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 132 PS (97 kW) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. It will likely be paired to six-speed automatic and manual transmissions.

 

If everything pans out, a concept could be unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. A production model is slated to show up two years later and go on sale in early 2018.
