大众辉腾第一代车型上市已经有12年了，目前还在包括德国在内的某些国家销售，该车曾在07年和10年分别进行过两次改款。虽然辉腾的销量一直不尽如人意，但大众并未放弃这款车，仍计划推出其第二代车型。新一代辉腾将于2017年在欧洲发布，随后在2018或2019年在美国上市。近日，马来西亚设计师Theophilus Chin绘制了下一代大众辉腾数字合成图。从合成图看，它更像一辆放大版的帕萨特，预计新车将采用MLB Evo平台。大众开发部门主管Heinz-Jakob Neusser更是形容该车“达到同级车领先水平，具备优异的平顺性和豪华性。”由于其在美国市场的竞争车型包括克莱斯勒300和福特金牛座，因此起价不会高于5万美元（约合人民币30.75万元）。

 

Next generation Volkswagen Phaeton digitally imagined

The second generation Volkswagen Phaeton has been digitally envisioned by Theophilus Chin.

 

An all-new Phaeton is still a few years away but that didn't stop Theophilus Chin from imagining how the model could end up looking. Although many of us are hoping for more variety, we all know how the new Phaeton will be designed, pretty much like an oversized Passat.

 

Scheduled to arrive in United States in 2018 or 2019, Volkswagen's range-topping model is expected to ride on the MLB Evo platform and promises to be a "class leading" model which will be "very smooth and luxurious", according to Volkswagen development chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser. Based on a recent report, in United States the new Phaeton will be priced similarly with the high-end variants of the Chrysler 300 and Ford Taurus so it should cost less than 50,000 USD.

 

Since U.S. will get it in 2018 or 2019, expect the overhauled Volkswagen Phaeton to be introduced in Europe sometime in 2017.

 

Despite being 12 years old, the first-gen Phaeton is still on sale today in several markets, including at home in Germany where it starts at 71,200 EUR. Throughout its long lifespan, the Phaeton was facelifted first in 2007 while three years later received another makeover. It never was a popular model but Volkswagen always said it helped the brand develop new technologies which found their way on lesser models.
