The 2015 / 2016 Mercedes S-Class Convertible has been spied undergoing testing in Germany.

Based on the S-Class Coupe, the Convertible has a familiar design but eschews the fixed roof for a retractable soft top. As a result, there are a handful of modifications but they don't seem to spoil the car's styling.

Our spies couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos but the cabin will carryover from the S-Class Coupe. However, we can expect airscarf seats and new controls to operate the soft top.

Engine options will include the usual suspects so expect choices to include:
A twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 with 455 PS (335 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque
A twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 585 PS (430 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque
A twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 with 630 PS (463 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque
