Koenigsegg Agera Successor Allegedly Called Ragnarok, Packs 1,440 HP
Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg is in the final stages of developing a successor to the Agera. The firm is keeping its lips sealed, but insiders suggest the model will be well worth waiting for.
Koenigsegg's next car will allegedly borrow the name Ragnarok from Norse mythology, according to The Supercar Blog. It will wear a more aggressive design than the Agera and it will retain its predecessor's removable roof panels. Expect Koenigsegg to make extensive use of carbon fiber to keep weight in check.
Power will come from a twin-turbocharged V8 tuned to deliver about 1,440 horsepower, though the final figure may vary because Koenigsegg is still fine-tuning the engine. Additional technical specifications remain under wraps, but a post on forum McLaren Life suggests the engine will rev to 9,000 rpm.
If accurate, the 1,440-horsepower output would put the Ragnarok 100 horses above the Agera and within striking distance of the Chiron. The same post points to a target weight of about 2,650 pounds.
Koenigsegg will likely reveal the Ragnarok at the 2019 edition of the Geneva auto show. We'll learn more details in the coming months.
