2019 BMW 3 Series Gets Most Powerful 4 Cylinder Engine Ever

The carmaker has released a limited amount of information about the upcoming model, currently in the final testing stages for the driver and suspension technology at the Nurburgring.

 

As per the details released by BMW, the new 3 Series will feature renewed suspension, steering, damping and brakes, all designed to optimize ride comfort and dynamic performance.

The modifications made for the new generation include a center of gravity that is 10 millimeters lower than on the outgoing model. The body structure and suspension attachment have been stiffened for increased rigidity, while the track width of the car has also been expanded.

 

An M Sport suspension is also on the table, offered with the Variable Sports Steering to respond with greater precision to the slightest of steering movements. In the engine department, the star of the lineup will be a revised 4-cylinder petrol engine, one BMW says will be the “most powerful 4-cylinder engine ever to be fitted in a BMW series production model.”

 

The Germans have not yet announced what exactly that statement translates into in terms of horsepower. They did say however that when paired to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission, the engine will be 5 percent less pollutant than the predecessor, thus making it Euro 6d-TEMP-compliant.
