戴姆勒集团7月6日宣布，已成为首家获得北京市高度自动驾驶（Level4）车辆路测牌照的国际汽车制造商。从现在起，梅赛德斯-奔驰测试车辆将可以在首都北京独特又复杂的城市交通路况中展开道路实测。作为自动驾驶技术开发的全球先驱，戴姆勒已在德国和美国获得自动驾驶测试牌照。戴姆勒还将通过与国内地方政府展开合作持续拓展其在中国的自动驾驶业务。为了获得北京市牌照，配备了百度阿波罗平台相关技术应用的梅赛德斯-奔驰车辆，已在国家智能出行试点区（北京和河北）进行了大规模的测试，测试期间车辆配有相应的接受过严格自动驾驶培训的测试驾驶员。戴姆勒一直在积极拓展自动驾驶和汽车安全领域的本土研发，并扩大与本土伙伴的合作。通过与百度阿波罗自动驾驶平台合作，戴姆勒正在为中国自动驾驶研究更安全的解决方案。此外，戴姆勒与清华大学于2013年共同创立了“可持续交通联合研究中心”，开展在中国特有道路环境下的可持续交通的相关研究。

 

Daimler becomes first global automaker to get Beijing’s autonomous vehicle road test license

German automaker Daimler AG became the first global automaker that was given a road test license for L4 autonomous vehicles in Beijing, the company announced on July 6. From now on, Mercedes-Benz autonomous vehicles are allowed to be tested on roads in China's capital, a megacity with unique and complex urban traffic conditions.

 

As a global pioneer in autonomous driving domain, Daimler has already procured autonomous driving road test licenses in Germany and the U.S., and has been constantly expanding its autonomous driving businesses in China by cooperating with local partners. To gain the license, Mercedes-Benz vehicles outfitted with some technical applications from Baidu Apollo were tested at the National Pilot Zone (Beijing and Hebei) for Intelligent Mobility. Moreover, all of testing drivers are required to pass strict driving training.

 

Daimler has also positively strengthened its R&D in autonomous driving and vehicle safety in the world's largest auto market. Teaming up with Baidu, Daimler is dedicated to providing safer autonomous driving solutions for Chinese users by virtue of the open Apollo autonomous driving platform. In addition, the automaker and China's famous Tsinghua University jointly built the Research Center for Sustainable Transportation in 2013 that have been supporting research projects related to sustainable transportation in the China-specific road environment.
