2019 BMW M2 Competition Officially Revealed With 405 HP
BMW has unveiled its first-ever M2 Competition model. Compared to the normal M2, the M2 Competition boasts a more powerful engine and upgraded brakes.
The new M2 Competition uses the same basic S55 engine found in BMW's larger M3 and M4 models. Under the hood of the M2 Competition that turbocharged six-cylinder develops 405 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. When paired to the standard six-speed manual the M2 Competition can scoot from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds; that figure drops to 4.0 seconds with the optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Top speed for the M2 Competition is limited at 155mph. However, an optional M Driver's Package raises the M2 Competition's top end to 174mph.
In order to keep that power in check, BMW has fitted the M2 Competition with an Active M Differential, a recalibrated Dynamic Stability Control system, a front strut brace for added rigidity and M Sport brakes with larger discs and calipers.
The M2 Competition can be identified by its larger kidney grilles and unique front skirt — both designed to channel more air to the car's high-performance engine. BMW is also offering two new exterior colors for the M2 Competition — Sunset Orange Metallic and Mineral Grey Metallic, the latter being exclusive to the M2 Competition.
Inside the M2 Competition gets sports bucket seats covered in black leather. Buyers will be able to choose between blue and orange-colored seat perforations. The backrests of the M2 Competition's seats also feature and illuminated M2 logo.
BMW hasn't announced pricing for the 2019 M2 Competition. Look for the newest M car to go on sale this summer.
