Ford reveals all-new Focus lineup
Ford has revealed the all-new global Focus lineup, including a sedan, estate/wagon, and hatchback for Europe, China and the US market.
The redesigned Focus is said to be one of the first examples of Ford's new product development process, which aims for a global reach with uniquely tailored variants yet still benefiting from a common modular platform architecture.
The new models feature a longer hood with a cab-rearward interior and longer wheelbase, giving the cars a new visual proportion and increasing interior space without changing the actual exterior dimensions.
Drivers will benefit from Ford's CoPilot360 safety and assistance technologies. Depending on region and configuration, the new Focus is available with adaptive cruise control, adaptive front lighting, active park assist and evasive steering assist. Other tech upgrades include Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system, an available eight-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging and remote vehicle management.
Engineers have revamped the chassis and suspension with a 20-percent increase in torsional rigidity. An improved steering system and eight-speed automatic transmission are also new, along with revised gasoline and diesel EcoBoost engines.
Engine specifications for North America will be announced closer to launch, scheduled for the second half of 2019.
