2019 Subaru Forester Boasts More Cargo Room, More Efficiency
Subaru has pulled the veil from its all-new 2019 Forester at the New York International Auto Show.
The fifth-generation Forester is billed as the roomiest and most refined edition yet, showcasing Subaru's latest DriverFocus safety technology and standard EyeSight assistance systems.
Designers aimed to deliver a more rugged style that still meshes with Subaru's latest design language, though the company was clearly cautious in meddling too much with the aesthetics of its best-selling SUV.
The wheelbase has stretched by slightly more than an inch, increasing rear legroom by 1.4 inches and improving head-, hip-, and shoulder-room.
Engineers managed to squeeze 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque from the Forester's naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter boxer engine, marking a slight improvement over the outgoing model. The company promises the fifth generation is quicker to accelerate yet yields an estimated 33 mpg highway rating.
Buyers will have to settle for the new Sport package, which adds a few unique exterior elements along with special drive modes. The CVT attempts to mimic a seven-speed manual gearbox when the driver actuates the steering wheel paddle shifters.
The company has not yet announced pricing or a specific arrival window for the new Forester.(文/刘根强)
