2019 Kia K900 Makes A Handsome Debut In New York
After a recent debut in its home market of South Korea, Kia now reveals the new K900 in North American spec at the New York Auto Show. It'll be on sale in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2018, and pricing details will come closer to launch.
The K900 design is conservative and maintains a traditional three-box shape. TKia seems quite proud of the new grille, which features a wavy mesh with 176 cells. The firm claims that the design is "suggestive of released energy accelerating away from its center in the way ripples in water move away from the impact of a splash." This poetic concept isn't very obvious when looking at the real thing, though.
Inside, the K900 pampers occupants with luxury features. Buyers can get a 20-way adjustable driver seat that includes width-adjusting bolsters and shoulder adjustments. Folks riding in the rear can be just as comfy thanks to 12-way adjustable rear seat on the driver's side and 14-way adjustments for the passenger in back. Heating and ventilation are available from the seating in the front and rear.
There're lots of high-tech amenities, too. A 12.3-inch infotainment screen dominates the top of the center stack, and there's an optional 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. An available 9.7-inch head-up display puts even more info in the driver's vision. The driver assistance suite adds helpful features like a 360-degree camera system, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, collision avoidance assist, rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. It even monitors the driver for signs of drowsiness and fatigue.
In South Korea, the K9 will be available with two V6 engine choices and a V8, but the K900 in the U.S. will only get the 3.3-liter biturbo V6 from the Stinger. The mill produces the same 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts) and 376 pound-feet (510 Newton-meters) of torque in this application. The sole gearbox choice is an eight-speed automatic, and it sends power to a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system. It generally sends 80 percent of the torque to the rear wheels but can do a 50-50 front-rear split depending on the situation.(文/高建林)
