Upgraded Nissan IMx Kuro Concept Makes European Debut In Geneva

Nissan has brought a revised version of its IMx concept to this year’s Geneva Motor Show. This is the first European public appearance of the car, which was revealed for the first time during the Tokyo Motor Show in October last year.

Providing a glimpse into the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the crossover show car has received the company’s Brain-to-Vehicle (B2V) technology. It uses signals from the driver’s brain to help the autonomous systems in the car learn and adapt to the driver’s habits. Nissan claims this is the first system of its kind in the industry – and we agree, but there’s one little thing we don’t like about it. The driver has to wear a device, which measures his brain wave activity, analyzes it, and then sends it to the system’s brain. Naturally, the Kuro features fully autonomous capabilities thanks to the latest version of Nissan’s ProPilot self-driving system. When in autonomous mode, the car stows its steering wheel inside the dashboard to give the driver and passengers more free space.

The IMx Kuro is effectively an AWD vehicle, as it is powered by two electric motors, one for each axle. Their combined work provides a peak power of 430 horsepower (320 kilowatts) and a beefy 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters) of torque. Based on Nissan’s dedicated EV architecture, the concept can travel up to 373 miles (600 kilometers) on a single charge.
