2019 Acura RDX Prototype Packs More Power, More Luxury
Acura has provided the first look at the 2019 RDX Prototype at the Detroit auto show, revealing the brand's most extensive redesign in more than a decade.
The next-generation crossover is larger yet lighter than the current model, expanding cabin and cargo space while stiffening the chassis for an improved driving experience.
Designers borrowed exterior styling cues from the Acura Precision Concept, while the interior follows the company's Precision Cockpit vision and introduces an all-new 'True Touchpad' interface that blends touchscreen and remote controls.
The 2019 RDX's 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine has been borrowed from the Honda Civic Type R and Accord. Power will likely be closer to the latter sedan, which boasts 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard, with an improved SH-AWD system available as an upgrade.
The first production units will begin arriving in showrooms later this year.
