马自达在东京车展发布的全新Kai概念车采用了全新设计语言，其车头部分在马自达6的Kodo设计语言基础上进一步精进，突出体现了马自达品牌现行版车型的特征。车头的贝壳形格栅仍继续保留，但比以前造型更锐利。从侧面看，概念车最抢眼的部分是其腰线，从前轮拱一直延伸到后轮拱，让车辆更具运动风格。宽阔的C柱进一步增加了车辆的肌肉感，不过当车辆在狭小空间倒车时，这样的设计会对驾驶员视线形成阻碍。车尾可以看到尾灯组大致类似Miata。整体来看，这款概念车十分耐看。在性感外观覆盖下的是新的模块平台，未来几年马自达绝大多数车型都将基于该平台。这款车还搭载了新的Skyactiv-X引擎，下一代马自达3也将搭载该引擎。不过，目前马自达并未公布其绝大部分技术细节。下一代马自达3将于明年发布并将作为2019款车型上市。这是一款值得等待的车型。如果新一代马自达3真的类似Kai 概念车，那么新车无论造型风格还是技术都将是改变游戏规则的一款车。

Mazda previews next design language with Kai concept
Mazda is giving us a preview of its next design language with a brand-new concept named Kai. The design study was presented today during the biennial Tokyo Auto Show.

The Kai's front end wears a more refined evolution of Mazda's Kodo design language, which characterizes the brand's current cars. The shield-shaped grille remains, but it's sharper than before. When viewed from the side, the concept's most striking aspect is its belt line, which sweeps up to give the car a sporty design.

The wide, slanted C-pillar adds substance to the muscular design, though we bet it's a lot less appealing when attempting to reverse into a tight spot. Out back, the lights are loosely inspired by the ones found on the Miata. All told, Mazda's most recent concept is a real looker.

The sexy sheet metal hides a new modular platform that will underpin most additions to the Mazda lineup in the coming years. The Kai also receives the innovative Skyactiv-X engine that's set to make its debut under next 3's hood, though additional technical details haven't been made public yet.

The next-generation Mazda3 will arrive next year, meaning it likely won't reach showrooms until the 2019 model year. It will be worth the wait; if the Kai concept is any indication, the new 3 will be a game-changer in terms of styling and tech.
